About Me
The desire to help others is definitely a trait that has been passed down to the women of my family for generations. I was raised as a toddler living in one of the first group homes in Nevada for adults with developmental disabilities because my mother worked for the local regional center and volunteered to take on the task of organizing one of the first homes to integrate adults with developmental disabilities into the community. As I a grew older, my mom opened up her home to foster children with behavior problems. It was during this time, that I had firsthand experience with the power of good behavior-change programs. When I started college and was formally introduced to the field of behavior analysis, I felt right at home. I didn't know it at the time, but all of the strategies I saw being used to create such profound changes with children with severe behavior problems were from the field of behavior analysis. I am convinced from both my personal experiences and from my academic training that behavior analysis has the answers to many problems we face day to day. So many of us needlessly suffer because we have been misled into believing we can't change (Can't teach an old dog new tricks, right?). Well, I don't believe that for a second. There is years of research to back up the benefits of behavior analysis and I have witnessed the power of the techniques used in behavior analysis personally. I am very passionate about the benefits of applied behavior analysis and I am so blessed to be able to devote my time to teaching others how to use these techniques to make changes in their own lives so that everyone, no matter what your background, has the opportunity to live a fulfilling life.
